Oh my, I have been slack of late. I have done a fair few hikes but only one run.
:(
I need to pull my finger out because i have another 10K in a couple of weeks. eek. But, I have a sore throat and am just about to start a new job…. eeek again.
Ran home from Dan’s house.
5.7k in 40 minutes ish.
Lots of walking. afternoon run = sluggish.
Mickey Mouse O event in Battersea Park this evening. I did the 5K course in 44 minutes. Properly easy course but fun. There was lots of running around out of bounds areas, and we weren’t meant to climb over fences either, so I probably actually ran about 6.5k I reckon. (NB: Ignore the 2.4K on the map - it was a mistake.)
I did Race For Life in the city yesterday. I’d had 6 vodkas the night before and it was HOT HOT HOT so I did the 5k in 32 minutes. 4 minutes slower than my last one. :(
lesson = drink more water.
I ran the Bupa London 10K today. It took me just under 61 minutes (the official time was 01:01:50 but I dispute the extra minute. ha.) which I was super pleased with. Not bad for my first ever 10K road race. yay me.
My run today doesn’t count because it was utterly pathetic.
Today’s run was just a wee 5k along the canal. Took 35 minutes ish. It was a hard slog - I find it so much harder running in the afternoons than in the mornings. Why is that?
It’s one week today until my first 10K. I looked at the route today and it scared me a little. I should have done more longer runs by now and I also should have been doing more interval training. But I know I will get round, and that is the main thing. At least if I do a shitty time I will be able to beat it at the next one right. ha.
Today I ran the Regent’s Park Race For Life.
5K in 28:30.
My goal was to do it in under thirty minutes so I was well chuffed. Only a week till my first 10K race. eeek. My goal for that is 01:15. My long term 10K goal is 51 minutes (my mother’s best 10K time) which I think is going to take a while to get to…
Today, I weighed less than 11 stone for the first time in I don’t know how long. It made me jump for joy. And the weird thing is, I haven’t really been watching what I’ve been eating recently. The running has made all the difference - not just in terms of burning calories and speeding up my metabolism, but also in terms of just making me feel like eating healthier and less. Running puts me into a good mood and when I’m happy I graze less.
My goal is not to lose weight, but it’s a happy side effect. Woop woop.
(day off today. planning to run 8k along the canal tomorrow.)
Today’s run:
7.6k
55 minutes
Hard work. really thought I was going to be walking the second half because I felt so beat but managed to keep going. Only walked for a total of about five minutes. I think I’m pretty darn swell actually. well done me.
